Brian Choules spent 18 years in the medical device industry directing and conducting structural design, testing and failure analysis of life critical medical devices. He has developed expertise in fatigue testing, failure analysis, corrosion, and metallurgy and processing of nitinol. He was a pioneer in development of standards for vascular stents, stent-grafts, and IVC filters within ASTM, AAMI, ASME and ISO for 15 years. He also built quality systems for compliance with ISO 13485 and ISO 17025 as well as international good laboratory practice. He has provided technical and strategical support in obtaining regulatory approval from world-wide regulatory bodies of various Cook Medical devices. He earned a mechanical engineering degree from Brigham Young University and post-graduate mechanical engineering degrees from Purdue University where he researched fracture mechanisms of ceramic coatings.
