​Born and raised in New Hampshire, Jim now lives in Thomasville, GA and works full time for the State of Florida as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Aviation Office Airspace Protection & Airport Security Manager. In this role, he manages Florida’s statewide Airspace Protection Program, reviews/approves (GA) Airport Security Plans, and manages the state’s Aviation Disaster Preparedness & Response Program.  


Prior to his current position, he served as the Deputy Director of Aviation at the Tallahassee International Airport (TLH) where he was responsible for overall airport operations, public safety (law enforcement & fire/rescue services), airport security, facility management, airfield maintenance and emergency preparedness. He also served in various roles within Airport Operations at TLH, having worked there for more than 23 years. Additionally, in February 2013, he retired from the US Air Force Reserve after more than 20 years of military service (8+ years active duty, the remainder a combo of ANG and AF Reserve duty).


Jim has a Bachelor's Degree in Professional Aeronautics with a Minor in Aviation Safety from ERAU and a dual specialization Master's Degree in Management & Aviation Safety from ERAU. He is also a Certified Member (C.M.) of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and active in several industry-related professional associations and committees.


In his personal time, Jim enjoys camping, hiking, and fishing.
