Marie Lathers

Marie Lathers spent twelve years at Iowa State University and twenty years at Case Western Reserve University before coming to Worldwide.  She also spent a year at Missouri University of Science and Technology as a distinguished visiting professor of humanities.  She has in addtion had a Fulbright Award that allowed her to teach at the University of Dschang, in Cameroon.  She has received numerous grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities.  Her areas of research include French literature and culture (especially nineteenth century), world literature, literature in English, the relationship between literature and the visual arts, and creative writing and children’s literature.  She is the author of three books and numerous articles, the most recent of which is "Sleight of Hand:  Signor Brunoni, Disappearing Acts, and Empire in Elizabeth Gaskell’s Cranford."  Studies in the Novel 53(2), 2021, 91-102.
