Dr. Minna Mattila, Adjunct Professor at ERAU-W and Director of HR and Administration, is a multilingual professional and well-connected with practitioners and academics on a global level. She is strong in prioritizing, networking and making sound decisions quickly while maintaining focus on the common strategic goals. Dr. Mattila strongly believes in the benefits of networking and partnering, is quick to learn new skills, and analytical, resourceful and highly organized to effectively accomplish multiple tasks timely yet staying calm under pressure. Having led strategic internationalization at 2 universities i.e. being responsible for establishing a multilayer international partner program featuring key account management, and having travelling experience from more than 40 countries and over 80 foreign cities, she is particularly adept at communicating with diplomacy to individuals from diverse cultural and organizational backgrounds. She has abilities to establish rapport with members of diverse cultural backgrounds as proven when she was invited to lead the Korean-Japanese based Multinational Research Consortium comprising of tens of international companies and universities as the first female and non-Asian chairperson. As a highly motivated, goal-oriented professional with an uncompromised work ethic, Dr. Mattila is able to spark interest and take initiative, and always aims at exceeding expectations. Dr. Mattila is a State of Council appointed Finnish Market Court non-professional judge under judicial oath who has participated in the ruling of 18 nationally ground-breaking anti-trust legal cases. She is also an invited corresponding member at the European Academy of Sciences for outstanding contribution to science and technology and a widely published author with 3295 (Feb 2024) Google Scholar Citations on 77 published titles. She’s been among the top 4% of the viewed researchers on Academia. Dr. Mattila leads evaluation teams and moderates consensus meetings on regular basis under the Vice Chair and Rapporteur mandates of the European Commission. She has gained valuable experience in applying international research funding from having evaluated some 400 international research proposals and reviewed 10 on-going projects for the European Commission. Her 22 research, 10 development, and 16 consulting projects have received funding from multinational corporations as well as from both the international and national public sectors.

Dr. Mattila leads the HR and Administration result area in an Office under the administrative branch of a Finnish Ministry. Prior to this, Dr. Mattila led a 480-employee unit in the field of enforcement with a 60-million euro budget. She has also worked as Chief of Staff at the Market Court of Finland, led the research and information services domains on a national level within the Finnish Border and Coast Guard, and 2 interdisciplinary centers of excellence with multinational projects on safety, security and civil crisis management. While an innovation unit of 54 people with a 4.5 euro budget under her leadership was in charge of entrepreneurial and incubator services for the start-ups, her other research and innovation services unit ran an incubator service for the college students. She has also applied for and been granted funding to establish an entrepreneurial education program to set-up pre-incubators on 6 campuses. As a certified and qualified Relationship Awareness Faciliator by Personal Strenghts Publishing Ltd., she is able to bring energy and enthusiasm to promote team cohesiveness and to motivate team members to achieve full potential and meet objectives, i.e. 89% annual growth in faculty's publications and 14 new international research proposals in 6 months resulting in a million euro funding. The 2 international conferences bridging industry and academia she established and chaired for the very first time gathered close to 200 participants worldwide from India to Brazil and from Columbia to Japan, and attracted patrons from the ministerial level to city mayors and the International Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Mattila is a certified teacher in Finland and an EagleVision certified ERAU-W Adjunct Professor with 25 years of online teaching experience from 3 American universities and their international satellite campuses. She has published widely not just on scientific research but also on developing higher education institutions, and eLearning environments, online curricula and online faculty. She is known for interactively encouraging student participation and facilitating peer-to-peer learning with more than 250 courses delivered face-to-face to classroom, globally online via various eLearning platforms, synchronous via EagleVision both to home and to classrooms (also hybrid), and as blended. Dr. Mattila has supervised over 60 Master’s and Licenciate (doctoral) Theses, and Doctorates. She has co-created 2 peer-to-peer learning environments where students and practitioners meet and students complete all their studies in business projects. She was among the first to teach in the TU@UB MBA top executive program as an invited instructor on behalf of an American university when they first introduced an MBA program in Romania.
