I am the Director of a District Office in the U.S. Department of Labor, a licensed attorney and retired Reserve Army officer.  I received my BA from Loyola University of Chicago (2014 Men's NCAA Volleyball Champions) with majors in history and political science.  I received a JD from Duke Law School and a MA in history from Duke Graduate School.  I also have a MA in Strategic Studies from the U. S. Army War College, mostly completed through online training.  I have enjoyed multiple professional opportunities.  As a trial attorney, I litigated and resolved complex commercial disputes.  I also served as corporation counsel handling sophisticated issues, including internationally.  For six years, I managed a U.S. Senator's office drafting opinions, analysis, and recommendations on Legislative and legal matters including on the process of impeaching a President, authorizations for the use of force, and financial regulations.  As an Army officer, I have served the nation for 30 years deploying to Panama, Bosnia, Kuwait and Iraq.  My military career has fostered a deep appreciation of continuing education and a deep respect for individuals seeking to expand their knowledge while simultaneously engaged in a career.  My goal is to facilitate the learning process for students so that upon completion of the course they can effectively employ their knowledge in their career.  I also believe that teaching serves as a learning opportunity for the instructor.  I have often learned valuable information and practical lessons in the process of teaching.  Whatever free time I have is devoted to my wife and two daughters, ages 18 and 16, enjoying their theater productions or other events.  As a Duke graduate, I bleed Duke blue--GO Blue Devils!
