William C. “Billy” Barott joined ERAU in 2006, after nine years at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he earned his BS, MS, & PhD, a minor entry on IMDB, and inconsequential fame as a producer & broadcast engineer in Atlanta AM News/Talk radio. He used his enthusiasm for electromagnetics to help create the BSEE, MSECE, and PhD-EECS programs at ERAU, and now imparts that passion to students in related courses and the Radar & Microwaves research lab. His research spans the gamut, including searching for ET signals (SETI Institute),developing new types of time-modulated antenna arrays (NSF), and investigating performance limitations of passive radars (AFRL).

Dr. Barott is ERAU's faculty advisor to the student branch of the IEEE, and helped students found (and also advises) the student chapters of IEEE-WIE (Women in Engineering) and IEEE-HKN (Eta Kappa Nu honor society).
