Biography
Dr. Aaron Clevenger serves as the assistant provost of International Education. He is also an adjunct professor for the Department of Security Studies & International Affairs on the Daytona campus and for the Masters of Human Security & Resilience at Embry-Riddle Worldwide.
Dr. Clevenger holds an M.A. in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida, an M.S. in Human Security & Resilience, and a Doctorate of Education in Higher Education and Organizational Change from Benedictine University. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a Training and Development Manager for Disney Sports & Recreation, where he ran both the International and College Aquatic Internship Programs.
Dr. Aaron D. Clevenger is a distinguished scholar in international education with extensive expertise in community-based global learning, cultural communication, and social advocacy. He has led research projects funded by the U.S. Defense Language and National Security Education Office, focusing on enhancing language skills and intercultural competencies for future military leaders. His scholarly contributions include numerous book chapters, journal articles and conference presentations on global learning, experiential education and indigenization. Dr. Clevenger has presented and moderated at prestigious forums such as NAFSA and AIEA, addressing key issues in international education and global learning strategies.
Dr. Clevenger is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and a winner of the Outstanding Experiential Education Research/Dissertation Award from The Society for Experiential Education. Under his leadership, Embry-Riddle has received the PIEoneer Real Life Learning Award and the highest International Education honor bestowed on a university, the Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization.
