Biography
Dr. Alea Fairchild is an information economist and an adjunct faculty member in the College of Arts & Sciences. Dr. Fairchild holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Hasselt, focusing on IT productivity metrics in retail banking. She has contributed to process innovation projects at notable companies such as ABN AMRO, Cisco Systems and FedEx.
Dr. Fairchild specializes in integrating technology into workplace design, with a keen interest in emerging trends in sensory technology to enhance organizational environments. Her expertise includes advising on innovative tech solutions that streamline business processes and improve productivity while ensuring data security.
Throughout her career, Dr. Fairchild has led and contributed to significant projects, including European Commission initiatives on privacy design and data protection, emphasizing her commitment to data ethics. She actively participated in open source and standards initiatives as a former non-executive director at Open Forum Europe.
Dr. Fairchild has been a Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD) member, engaging with a global community that focuses on creating meaningful experiences connecting people to place. Her thought leadership and industry insights make her a sought-after speaker and consultant, further advancing her mission to empower teams through technology.
With a dedication to innovation and data ethics, Dr. Fairchild has made significant contributions to workplace technologies. Beyond her professional achievements, she is an accomplished Olympic weightlifter and sabre fencer, representing Belgium as a veteran athlete, showcasing her diverse interests and commitment to excellence in all endeavours.
