MathematicsBiography
Dr. Amal S. Clarke is an adjunct assistant professor at the College of Arts and Science’s worldwide campus and a part-time online teacher at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She holds a Second Mathematics Teaching Diploma, a BSc in Computer Science, an M.S. in Mathematics and a Ph.D. in pure Mathematics from Birkbeck, University of London, focusing on affine Coxeter groups and their graphical properties. She has extensive experience as a Mathematics educator and coordinator, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students across the public and private sectors.
Dr. Clarke specializes in group theory, especially affine Coxeter groups. She is particularly interested in understanding their structure through involution classes and commuting involution graphs. Her research contributes to group theory and algebra, focusing on exceptional affine Coxeter groups. She co-authored a book exploring the distinctions between analytics and data science.
Her work also includes notable publications, such as "Commuting Involution Graphs in the Affine Coxeter Group of Type C" and "Commuting Involution Graphs in Classical Affine Weyl Groups," published in Communications in Algebra. Dr. Clarke is an experienced educator and researcher who received the Microsoft Competition Award for her project on applying mathematics to real life.
