Dr. A. Fotopoulou is an architect engineer focusing on sustainable, resilient, inclusive and carbon-neutral environments. Her primary skills and expertise relate to the Energy Performance of Buildings, sustainability policies, and environmental awareness.
Her research interests include sustainability strategies, circularity, energy and architectural retrofitting in the urban and building scale, including multi scalar and complex systems, including airport facilities.
She has been an experienced senior project manager in EU-funded projects for more than 9 years and she has been involved in numerous EU research projects, including the aviation sector related to sustainability policies for reduction of emissions and noise level in complex systems with the provision of practical implementation initiatives. She has also gained knowledge and experience in ESG topics, such as climate change, diversity and inclusion, risk management, etc.
Her educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Architecture from the University of Bologna (UNIBO) - 2016, a Master in Sustainable and Advanced architecture from IaaC-UPC in Barcelona - 2009 and a Diploma of Architecture (equivalent to an MSc.) from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) - 2007. She also speaks six languages.
She has been an academic tutor and adjunct professor for more than five years at the University of Bologna, in sustainable design and energy retrofitting policies, and she is an author and co-author of more than 30 publications in conferences and journals.
