Biography
Dr. Reynolds has over twenty years of experience in astrophysical and medical research. Her educational background includes a B.A. in astrology with honors and mathematics from Williams College, an M.A. in software engineering from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in physics and astronomy from University College London (UK). Her research experience spans projects from telescope mirror fabrication to medical data analysis. As a member of the UK National Ultra Precision Surfaces laboratory, she invented new robotic fabrication techniques used to manufacture the prototype primary mirror segments for the European Extremely Large Telescope, the world's largest optical telescope. She also was the project manager for optics fabrication and verification for NASA's IRIS (Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph) space telescope.
She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in neurology and clinical research methods at the Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine, specializing in developing scientific software in support of research exploring the relationship between sleep and neurological conditions, including dementia and traumatic brain injury. She also served as a clinical research analyst at the Providence Medical Research Center in Spokane, Washington, studying the prevalence and treatment of chronic kidney disease in at-risk populations.
Dr. Reynolds' teaching experience includes positions at Montana State University, Bennington College, Marian University, and the University of Wisconsin system. During her research career, she has served as an academic and research mentor and advisor to many students at the undergraduate, MD and Ph.D. levels.
