Dr. Emel Sen Kilic is an assistant professor of Aerospace Physiology and the Co-Director of the Space Physiology Antibody and Cellular Engineering (SPACE) Lab. Her research focuses on host–pathogen interactions, the respiratory system, organoid development, immune responses to pathogens and the advancement of therapeutic strategies for spaceflight and other extreme environments.

Dr. Sen Kilic earned her Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis from West Virginia University, her M.S. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Koç University and dual B.S. degrees in Bioengineering from Montana State University and Istanbul Technical University. After completing her doctoral training, she joined West Virginia University’s Vaccine Development Center as a Scientist and Antibody Development Team Leader. She later served as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Cell Biology at West Virginia University before joining Embry-Riddle.
