Biography
Dr. Hai Tran is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Prior to joining ERAU, Dr. Tran worked in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University (College Station, TX), and in the Department of Natural Sciences and Engineering at Point Park University (Pittsburgh, PA). Additionally, Dr. Tran spent nearly 2 years as a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Pittsburgh, contributing to a NASA project focused on Fracture Mechanics in Metal 3D Printing. His expertise includes Fracture Mechanics, Metal 3D Printing, and Modeling/Simulation.
Dr. Tran obtained his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Florida. The title of the dissertation was “Experimental and Computational Study on Fracture Mechanics of Multilayered Structures”. He earned his Master’s degree from RWTH Aachen University (Germany), where the course focused on FEM-based Simulation Techniques in Solids Mechanics. He obtained his Bachelor degree from Hanoi University of Science and Technology (Vietnam) in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
