Biography
Dr. Kathleen Turner Ledgerwood serves as the director for VECTOR, Worldwide’s virtual communication center and as assistant professor of Rhetoric and Composition. She holds an M.A. degree in English, specializing in film and literature, and a Ph.D. in English from Northern Illinois University.
Kathleen has worked in Writing Centers and as a Writing Program Administrator and has taught in Communication, English and Rhetoric and Writing programs. She has taught various courses in media studies and popular culture, as well as public relations, business communication and writing pedagogy. Her previous research and publications have focused on teaching Critical Language Awareness (CLA) to promote social justice, popular media adaptations of the Marvel comics, and representations of working women in television. Her current research focuses on how a CLA framework for teaching about Artificial Intelligence (AI) can build critical competencies and how AI tools can increase accessibility in online classrooms.
Kathleen serves as an associate editor for The Popular Culture Studies JournaI and maintains an active role on committees for several academic organizations, including the Association for Writing Across the Curriculum (AWAC).
