Biography
Kimberly Heinzer is an Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering at Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University. She has over fifteen years of experience in design and modification of aircraft, loads and stress analysis, and aircraft structural testing. She has coordinated design and certification projects with the FAA, and she has managed an FAA Repair Station and engineering consulting company as vice president. More recently Kimberly has shifted her focus to education. At Embry‑Riddle, Professor Heinzer draws on her engineering, management, and academic capabilities to integrate industry professionals and multidisciplinary teams into the student experience as seniors design aircraft in their capstone classes. She is the faculty advisor for SARTEC, a student club that designs UAVs capable of search and rescue operations, and she is co-advisor for the AIAA Design, Build, Fly team.
