Luis Felipe Zapata Rivera

Dr. Zapata-Rivera earned his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at Florida Atlantic University in 2019, a Masters in Engineering at EAFIT University in 2013, and  a B.S in Systems Engineering at EAFIT University in 2011. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor Computer, Electrical, and Software Engineering (CESE) Department at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Prescott campus, Chair of the IEEE Education Society - Standards Committee, Vice-Chair of the IEEE Standard 1876-2019 Networked Smart Learning Objects for Online Laboratories, and member of the P2834 - Standard for Secure and Trusted Learning Systems working group.

In the past, Dr. Zapata-Rivera worked as Research Assistant at Florida Atlantic University, LACCEI and EAFIT University. His research areas include Online Laboratories, Online Assessment Systems, Microcontrollers, and IoT Systems. Dr. Zapata-Rivera has developed software systems for automatic assessment (computer-based testing), platforms for the management of online laboratories and virtual immersive platforms for hosting virtual events. He has published several conference and journal papers on online laboratories, assessment tools for education and software architecture design and implementation.
