Mark  Jahanbin

Shahrooz Mark Jahanbin is a professor in the College of Aviation at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, specializing in aviation safety, structural design and certification with expertise in risk assessment, regulatory compliance, accidents investigation and prevention. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Aerospace, an MBA and a B.S. in Aeronautics.

Mark's extensive industry experience includes senior engineering and leadership roles at Boeing, Leonardo Helicopters, SpaceX and Northrop Grumman. His aviation journey began as an aircraft mechanic while earning his Private Pilot License, shaping his enduring dedication to advancing aviation safety and standards. His research encompasses structural integrity, advanced manufacturing, certification processes, the integration of artificial intelligence in unmanned aircraft systems and risk-based compliance strategies for emerging aviation technologies.

Mark actively contributes to aviation safety as the sponsorship chairman for the International Society of Air Safety Investigators and previously served as a commissioner for diversity, equity and inclusion. In addition to his professional endeavors, Mark is a licensed youth volleyball coach and enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, who are actively involved in art and music.
