Dr. Omotayo Olubiyi is an adjunct faculty member in the Worldwide College of Business. He currently teaches Corporate Finance and has previously taught Personal Financial Planning.
Dr. Olubiyi holds an MBA from Olabisi Onabanjo University in Nigeria and a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a focus on Financial Management from Northcentral University in Arizona. His professional background includes roles in financial management, auditing and budgeting for multiple U.S. government agencies, including the U.S. Army, Air Force, Department of the Interior and U.S. Forest Service. He also served as a financial management specialist in the U.S. Army.
His research interests focus on organizational leadership and business administration. One of his studies examined employee retention strategies through the lens of person-organization fit theory, specifically value congruence between employees and organizations. His findings indicated that financial incentives alone do not significantly drive employee retention and other qualitative factors are necessary to influence employee retention. In 2019, his research, "A Qualitative Case Study of Employee Turnover in Retail Business," was published in Heliyon.
Dr. Olubiyi’s military service has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Army Achievement Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, and a Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon. In addition to his academic and research pursuits, he has taught Business Finance at the University of Maryland Global Campus.
