Biography
Dr. Patricia Schmaltz holds a bachelor's degree in Adult Vocational Education, and a master's degree in Instructional Technology, both from the University of West Florida. Her doctorate is in Management and Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix (UoP).
Patricia has always worked with veterans. Her personal connection stems from her father, aunt and (2) uncles serving in WWII, and continues with her husband (retired U.S. AFSOC pilot) and 2 sons (who served as USMC in OIF). Professionally, Patricia has provided professional training services to the military, first developing and delivering computer and network training as a DoD contractor, and more recently as an Adjunct Professor for ERAU in the Management and Leadership tract of courses. She has also provided Instructional System Design (ISD) work for a non-profit organization, recently developing courseware on a cognitive behavioral therapy plan for those suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
During her instructional career on computers, Patricia held several Microsoft-level certifications. Patricia has over 18 articles published by PC Magazine LAN Labs, and 8 course manuals produced for the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for their computer/network training programs. Her dissertation topic is titled "Combat to Corporate: A Qualitative Phenomenological Study on Injured Veterans", exploring how severely injured veterans transition to civilian careers. She has also written training manuals for use by the Florida Department of Transportation.
Additionally, Patricia served as a Director of Marketing for a DoD contractor, specializing in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Training Services. This work led to her developing training programs delivered to both U.S. military and civilian bomb squads across the country. Her stint as Marketing Director also involved delivering presentations at conferences in the States and in the UK and representing the company at various marketing events.
