Dr. Piper Brummerstedt is an adjunct assistant professor in the Worldwide College of Aviation and College of Business. Dr. Brummerstedt holds a J.D. from the University of Tennessee and an active license to practice law from the Supreme Court of Tennessee (TN BPR# 020831). Dr. Brummerstedt previously practiced corporate and regulatory law at Waller Lansden Dortch and Davis, PLLC, in Nashville, TN, and has been teaching law for over 20 years. She has developed a great passion for education, particularly in aviation and aerospace law and business law. Dr. Brummerstedt began teaching business and contract law as an adjunct instructor in 2003 and became the legal studies program director for a Tennessee state college in 2009, where she taught numerous law classes and professional leadership and ethics courses. 

Currently, Dr. Brummerstedt is an adjunct assistant professor of Applications in Aviation and Aerospace Law, Aviation Law and Risk Management, Aviation Legislation and Business Law. Dr. Brummerstedt also has teaching expertise in bankruptcy law, criminal Law, criminal procedures, employment law, health care law, law and technology, legal ethics and legal research.

With over 20 years of teaching experience, Dr. Brummerstedt is well-versed in the challenges students face while balancing life, work and academics. She is dedicated to helping her students succeed in their educational and career aspirations. Dr. Brummerstedt is also deeply familiar with the challenges of a military lifestyle as her husband is a retired U.S. Navy Master Chief, and they have lived internationally and abroad, including in Tennessee, California, Florida and Japan. She and her husband have two children (a 20-year-old son and a 15-year-old daughter), three dogs and two cats. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking their dogs, reading, yoga, swimming and taking walks on the beach.
