Biography
Robert D. Wood is a military science instructor and adjunct faculty member. He provides leadership, mentorship, and academic instruction, focusing on student recruitment, education, retention and professional development.
Mr. Wood holds a B.S. in Cybersecurity Management and Policy from the University of Maryland Global Campus and an M.S. in higher education administration from the University of Louisville. With over 25 years of service in the U.S. Army, he currently holds the rank of Sergeant First Class. He has extensive experience in leadership, project management and instructional roles, including serving as Chief of Training at an NCO Academy and earning the Senior Army Instructor Badge.
His areas of professional interest include student success strategies, leadership development and academic program management. Mr. Wood has demonstrated expertise in curriculum restructuring, including enhancing the Army ROTC program by integrating small teaching strategies, metacognitive reflections, and collaborative assessments. He has restructured training schedules and increased leadership opportunities for cadets, resulting in improved retention and performance.
Mr. Wood has contributed significantly to the academic community through his leadership in faculty recruitment, onboarding, and training processes. His commitment to educational excellence has been recognized through professional development workshops, curriculum redesign efforts and maintaining compliance with accreditation standards.
Outside of his professional role, Mr. Wood is passionate about family engagement and actively explores creative projects with his children, including developing educational content for YouTube. He remains committed to mentoring future leaders and contributing to academic and military communities.
