Shawn Reese is an Analyst in Homeland Security Policy with the Congressional Research Service (CRS) at the Library of Congress. His research areas include federal, state, and local homeland security; National Special Security Events; the U.S. Secret Service; U.S. government facility security; national preparedness; and U.S. national and homeland security strategies. He has testified numerous times before congressional committees on homeland security issues. Shawn was a subject matter expert for President George W. Bush’s Homeland Security Advisory Council and participated in the council’s review and replacement of the Homeland Security Advisory System. Shawn presented on the US Presidential Inauguration Security at the 2018 Counter-Terror Expo in London, UK. Shawn is a 2011 U.S. Department of Defense’s National War College graduate. He has instructed at the graduate and undergraduate level. Prior to being employed with CRS, Shawn was a U.S. Army field artillery officer.
