Biography
Dr. Tamilla Curtis is a Professor of Management at the David B. O'Maley College of Business. Dr. Curtis holds a DBA in Marketing from Nova Southeastern University, an MBA in Aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Moscow Institute of Oil and Gas. Dr. Curtis's international work experience in transportation companies, including Balkan Bulgarian Airlines, Moscow Airways and Det Norske Veritas, provided her with a solid foundation to conduct research involving aviation strategy, international business and marketing. Her articles have been published in academic journals such as the International Journal of Aviation Management, Transport Policy, Journal of Product Brand Management, Review of Business, World Review of Intermodal Transportation Research and others.
Dr. Curtis was awarded the "Fulbright Scholar Award" for the Bahamas from the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs from 2022 to 2023. Her other awards include the David B. O’Maley College of Business Faculty Fellowship from 2023 to 2024, the Joseph R. Martin Distinguished Term Professorship in Aviation Business Administration from 2020 to 2021 and an outstanding College of Business Faculty award from 2013 to 2014. Dr. Curtis obtained an IATA Aviation Sustainability Champion Diploma in 2025 and has five IATA certifications, including Design a Sustainable Strategy Fundamentals, Sustainable Aviation Fuels, Aviation and Environment, Sustainability Communication Strategies and CORSIA.
In 2024, Dr. Curtis developed the graduate course Sustainability, Environment, Society and Governance in Aviation and Aerospace. She was also a course developer for the doctoral course Advanced Marketing Management in Aviation. Dr. Curtis is a Chair of Doctoral Dissertation Committees.
