Thomas Young

Dr. Tom Young is an assistant professor in the Practice of Human Factors for the College of Arts & Sciences - Worldwide Campus. He initially joined the faculty in 2016 as an Adjunct faculty member.

Dr. Young is an experienced educator, clinician and researcher with over 15 years of service in higher education and clinical practice. He integrates a problem-based learning approach with real-time application to support student engagement and professional growth across diverse disciplines, with expertise in biomechanics, ergonomics, functional rehabilitation, physiologic adaptation and sports medicine.

Dr. Young holds a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Florida, and is a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians® (DACBSP®). His academic appointments have included faculty positions at Palmer College of Chiropractic and National University of Health Sciences, where he developed and delivered coursework in manual therapies, rehabilitation, sports medicine and clinical case management.

Clinically, Dr. Young is the owner and operator of a Sports Chiropractic clinic in Clearwater, Florida, where he specializes in interdisciplinary sports medicine and functional rehabilitation. He has served as team chiropractor for professional and collegiate athletes, including the Daytona Tortugas baseball team, and collaborated with the Halifax Health Sports Medicine Fellowship in Daytona Beach to provide integrative care and education.

His research interests include workplace ergonomics, movement pattern analysis and injury prevention in athletic and occupational populations. His scholarly work has been presented at national conferences, including the ACBSP® Chiropractic Sports Sciences Symposium and the U.S. Olympic Training Center, and has been published in the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine. He has also co-authored a textbook on functional rehabilitation

A committed academic and community leader, Dr. Young has served numerous university committees and advisory boards, and actively volunteers as a high school wrestling coach, scout leader and public health educator while serving on non-profit boards supporting the performing arts in schools and the YMCA. He brings a passion for evidence-based practice and a student-centered teaching philosophy to every aspect of his professional life.
