Education:    Master of Engineering (M.Eng) Engineering Mathematics Computer Science, Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Applied Science, all University of Louisville.  Work toward Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) (ABD) Computer Science Engineering; Master of Business Administration (MBA)  -- also University of Louisville.  'ABD' = All but Dissertation (coursework, exams, and proposal all complete) for Ph.D., about 40% finished with MBA.

Background:  I have been active in the systems/software industry for at least 40 years, and teaching for nearly all of that time.  I have worked as a systems software developer and as a manager over engineering, product support, internal IT, and technical writing groups.  I have worked closely with Operations in managing development and deployment of systems and other resources to clients both small and very large.  Among other things, I have worked as a professional trainer of software developers, systems engineers, and end-users, as both full- and part-time post-secondary education faculty, and as a post-secondary administrator. As post-secondary admin, I have served as Dean of IT and Dean of Business among other roles.  As faculty, I have taught extensively in computing, IT, engineering, mathematics, the physical sciences, and business administration.  As a trainer, I have been fortunate enough to help develop and deliver a wide variety of courses, though primarily for programmers and end-users. I have also been fortunate enough to be involved on the advisory boards/committees of several professional, civic, and / or academic organizations.

Personally, I have been an active volunteer in my kids’ schools and extra-curricular activities, including PTA, governance, academic teams, athletic teams, school-sponsored clubs, and scouting, among others, though I am currently an empty-nester (my kids have grown up and moved on).  I am divorced but my ex- and I get along well.  My hobbies are reading (history, biography, science and science fiction), cooking (though it's not much fun for one) web surfing, and occasional exercise. I used to get into genealogy.  I am not particularly fond of DIY projects at home, but am too cheap (umm, frugal) to pay anyone else when I don't have to.
