Biography
Dr. Yanbing Chen earned a Ph.D. in Occupational Health and Safety from University College Dublin School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science. Her PhD research project focused on injury and risk management among professional athletes. During the pandemic, Dr. Chen’s research focused more on public health emergency management, such as project “COVID-19 outbreaks in workplace settings: understanding and preventing super spreading events”, funded by Science Foundation Ireland.
Since 2021, Dr. Chen moved to Berlin, Germany to join the project “Research on open-source diabetes technology – do-it-yourself artificial pancreas systems” funded by the European Commission Horizon 2020, while remotely working as a postdoctoral researcher in University College Dublin. Most research she has been involved in are multi-national projects such as the “Supporting compliance and better occupational safety practice through leverage in market-based initiatives” funded by EU-OSHA, in collaboration with patterner institutions in Denmark, Spain and Estonia. Driven by a passion for interdisciplinary knowledge, she aims to infuse our university with valuable insights from diverse fields.
